Why Isaiah Thomas Doesn’t Want Lonzo Ball To Change ‘Ugly As Hell’ Shot

When watching Lonzo Ball shoot a basketball, one word comes to mind: “Yuck.”

The Los Angeles Lakers guard’s eyesore of a jumper has been heavily scrutinized since he arrived at UCLA. Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson even suggested the team and Ball could look at ways to change his shot once the season’s over.

New Laker Isaiah Thomas, however, doesn’t think Ball should change anything.

“It’s ugly as hell,” Thomas recently told the Orange County Register’s Bill Oram. “It’s an ugly shot, but he’s been successful with it his whole life, so you get to the highest level, there is no need to change it.

“You just got to figure out ways to continue to make it better. He is a gym rat so he is going to continue to get better no matter what and no matter how it looks.”

With all due respect, Isaiah, we beg to differ.

Sure, Ball’s shooting stats have slightly improved over the course of the season, but it’s tough to imagine him becoming all he can be with a jumper this brutal.
