The shade war between Alabama and Central Florida rages on.
You’ll remember that the UCF Knights went undefeated during the college football season, prompting them to declare themselves national champions by virtue of being the only team not to suffer a loss. The Knights even held a championship parade at Walt Disney World following their Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl win over Auburn.
Alabama, of course, won the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in overtime against Georgia, but that didn’t stop UCF from holding a trophy presentation for their self-proclaimed national title.
So, when the Crimson Tide’s women’s basketball team defeated UCF in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament on Sunday, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne came out swinging on Twitter.
“Great win today over UCF for @AlabamaWBB!” Bryne wrote. “We’re not ready to make it more than it was and schedule a Disney Parade…but we’ll definitely take it. #RollTide”
Shots fired.
It didn’t take UCF AD Danny White long to respond, however.
Our policy has been to schedule Disney parades when we win New Year’s Day bowl games. We’ve won 2 in the last 5 years. The most recent in 2017 when we were the only undefeated team in America, & National Champions. If y’all wanna have a parade for WNIT wins – more power to ya! https://t.co/pgFLN8mqj9

10 points to UCF.
