The injury bug has bitten the Boston Bruins — and bitten them hard.
Already without the services of injured stars Patrice Bergeron and Charlie McAvoy, the Bruins watched Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug and Jake DeBrusk all exit Tuesday’s thrilling win over the Carolina Hurricanes. And although the exact seriousness of those injuries still isn’t known, Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy provided updates ahead of Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
Here’s what Cassidy had to say about Chara and DeBrusk:
Bruce Cassidy on both Zdeno Chara and Jake DeBrusk:
“Upper-body. Will not play tonight. Will not play Saturday.”

Let’s hope the Bruins simply are being overly cautious.
Although Krug participated in Thursday’s practice, Cassidy said the defenseman’s status against the Panthers still is up in the air.
Per Cassidy, Torey Krug will be a game-time decision.

In light of the injuries to Chara and DeBrusk, the Bruins recalled forward Anton Blidh and defenseman Paul Postma from the AHL.
Of course, the Bruins aren’t the only TD Garden residents who’ve been ravaged by injuries. The Boston Celtics currently are without many of their important players, too.
