NFL Rumors: Jordy Nelson Targeting Patriots After Being Cut By Packers

The Green Bay Packers sent shockwaves through the NFL when it was reported Tuesday that they released wide receiver Jordy Nelson.

But Nelson reportedly wasn’t shocked at the move and already has his sights set on a new home, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

That team? The New England Patriots.

Nelson was a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers, but he appeared to lose a step in 2017, turning in a disappointing season in which he caught 53 balls for 482 yards and six touchdowns.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

While some might think it makes sense for Nelson to join the Patriots after New England reportedly lost Danny Amendola to the Miami Dolphins, the 32-year-old receiver would need to show Bill Belichick that he still has something left in the tank and that he would be willing to come at a cheaper price than Amendola.

Nelson reportedly will have a load of other suitors including the Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, so it might not be a match made in heaven with the Patriots.

If Nelson can show that 2017 was a fluke and he still is the same receiver who caught 97 passes for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Packers in 2016 then he would be a valuable weapon for Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels.
