While many people (understandably) are interested in what the Seattle Seahawks are going to do with cornerback Richard Sherman, it appears there’s another defensive player they’re shopping.
The Seahawks reportedly are involving Pro Bowl defensive lineman Michael Bennett in trade talks, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
Such news, in a sense, is a long time coming. Bennett expressed after the season that he didn’t believe he would return in 2018, and head coach Pete Carroll didn’t give anyone reason to believe otherwise when asked about it at the combine.
“I haven’t talked to Mike in a while now, but it’s the time of year, conversations going in all directions,” Carroll said Thursday, via ESPN.
Bennett — who is the brother of New England Patriots tight end Martellus — recorded 8.5 sacks in 2017 after signing a three-year deal before the start of last season. He has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons.
