Like it or not, new ways of measuring statistics such as “Statcast” have become a big part of baseball.
And it appears Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona is not a fan.
Francona was asked a question Friday about launch angle, which is exactly what it sounds like: the direction the ball goes after being struck with the bat.
In response, Francona decided to use his ace, Corey Kluber, as a way of illustrating why launch angle isn’t something to get too worked up about, all while incorporating another Statcast term.

Hilarious.
While there is some value to things like Statcast, it’s pretty clear Francona is a baseball purist of sorts. However, it sure sounds like he’s hoping his version of exit velocity is pretty common this season.
