BOSTON — Tuukka Rask did a lot more than stop the puck from going in the net Thursday night.
The Bruins goalie came up huge with some big saves in Boston’s 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, but he also provided a major energy boost by throwing a few punches at Bolts forward Cory Conacher.
Rask received high praise from his coach and teammates for upping the physicality, but he’s not trying to integrate brawling into his repertoire. The veteran netminder acted accordingly in a frustration-filled moment, which might call for a couple libations in order to come down from.
“It’s impossible to say, but as I said whatever I feel out there, try and protect yourself. Stuff happens in the heat of the moment. Hopefully I don’t start doing that every game. I have to go have a couple beers now and cool off.”
Rask certainly earned those cold ones, as his play helped the B’s grab the top spot in both the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.
