Hanley Ramirez Gives Young Fan His Jersey In Touching Moment After Win Vs. Marlins

Hanley Ramirez had himself a game Monday night, going 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in the Boston Red Sox’s 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins. But as impressive as the first baseman’s offensive explosion was, his action following the game was even more praise-worthy.

Following the final out, Ramirez went into the stands and gave his jersey to a young disabled Red Sox fan — after signing it, of course.

Apparently, Ramirez made a promise to the young fan before the game.

“Yeah, when you see things like that, that’s life. It can happen to anybody,” Ramirez said about the boy who is unable to walk or talk, via WEEI’s Rob Bradford. “Little kids born like that, it’s upsetting. But we’ve got to keep it strong mentally.”

Ramirez and the Red Sox now have won four straight games after dropping their season-opener to the Tampa Bay Rays. They’ll look to extend their winning streak to five when Chris Sale takes the mound Tuesday in Miami.
