Kevin Byard long has been one of the league's best safeties
The Philadelphia Eagles have won six of their first seven games and their defense is about to get even scarier.
The Eagles landed two-time All-Pro safety Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans, according to multiple reports. Philadelphia parted ways with safety Terrell Edmunds as well as a fifth- and sixth-round pick.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Sunday the Eagles were looking for help at safety.
The 30-year-old Byard played his first eight seasons with the Titans. He has 27 interceptions in 120 career games, including eight during his All-Pro season in 2017 and another five in his All-Pro campaign in 2021.
The Eagles allowed the seventh-fewest yards after seven games, including the fewest rushing yards of any team. The addition of Byard figures to help a pass defense which has allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns in the league.
