Celtics Star Jaylen Brown Teases Details About Team USA Snub

It didn’t take long for Celtics star Jaylen Brown to make his first public comments to the media about his Team USA snub.

The 27-year-old made cryptic comments on social media after his Boston teammate Derrick White was chosen to replace Kawhi Leonard on the United States basketball Olympic roster. The decision was questionable given Brown had won 2024 Finals MVP and seemed like a stylistic fit compared to the Los Angeles Clippers star. Brown alluded to Nike playing a role in the decision, which USA basketball managing director Grant Hill denied.

Brown received an ESPY award Thursday for Best Championship Performance, and in a red carpet interview with former New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, he downplayed the controversy and highlighted his date: WNBA guard Kysre Gondrezick.

However, that wasn’t the only red carpet interview for the All-NBA guard.

“Great to have support and one day, I’ll share my story,” Brown told Sports Illustrated. “People don’t have all the information in the world that they would like to know. It just feels great to be here at the ESPYS and to be holding up the Larry O’Brien (Trophy).”

The Celtics didn’t dive into further details nor mention what medium he would reveal details about his Team USA snub. However, it certainly will have fans on their toes on social media to see if there will be further responses from Brown as Team USA is set to begin its gold medal campaign.
