How Nick Pivetta Believes Red Sox Influenced Boston’s Front Office

'I’m very confident in these guys'

While the Boston Red Sox clubhouse is not focused on the trade deadline that is coming up on July 30, players still have their opinions on how the front office should go about the deadline.

The Red Sox have proven many doubters wrong this season by putting up a 53-45 record as of Monday. Due to the closeness and strength of the Boston roster, starting pitcher Nick Pivetta doesn’t believe the front office will trade away players.

“I think we’ve forced (the front office’s) hand to add to this clubhouse and keep these guys in here, which I’m really excited to see,” Pivetta told reporters, per The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. “But everybody in here is focused on winning. That’s all we care about. Whatever happens, happens. I feel very strongly about this group. Additions are always great, but I’m very confident in these guys.”

Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen has said that the front office knows what the team needs, which includes a right-handed bat and an addition to the starting rotation.

A number of players have talked about the belief they have in the group already in Boston. Given how outspoken Red Sox players have been about their performance, it appears the front office will be buyers instead of sellers as the deadline approaches.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ three-game sweep of Boston showed some of the issues the Red Sox need to address at the deadline.
