How Sam Kennedy Approaches Red Sox Trade Deadline Stance

MLB's trade deadline this season is on July 30

The Boston Red Sox sit 10 games over .500 as one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last six weeks.

The team holds control of the final American League playoff spot. The Red Sox showed they certainly can compete this season and appear to be worthy of investing in at the trade deadline.

So, how does Red Sox president Sam Kennedy feel about the potential to add at the trade deadline?

“Without question,” Kennedy told Tom Caron Wednesday during NESN’s pregame coverage when asked if the Red Sox would pursue a trade if it meant adding on salary. “(This ownership group) has proved time and time again in our two-and-a-half decades that resources will not be a problem when it comes to doing everything we can to be a winning championship team for the now and for the long term.”

Kennedy praised the collective Red Sox organization for building an “elite baseball operation” that’s allowed the team to improve in 2024. That’s led to enhanced energy around the ballclub during the most recent surge.

“There’s a great feeling in that clubhouse,” Kennedy added. “There’s a great vibe in the front office. (Alex Cora and Craig Breslow) are on the exact same page about what we’re trying to do here.”

The Red Sox look to stay hot leading up to the MLB trade deadline on July 30.
