Judon did not participate in practice Monday
New England Patriots star Matthew Judon said he was not going to make a scene about his ongoing contract displeasure.
And over the course of four non-padded training camp practices, that’s exactly what Judon did. He showed up each of the first four days and went through competitive periods with his Patriots teammates.
Judon, however, didn’t stick to the same script Monday.
The veteran edge rusher showed up to New England first padded practice wearing a hat and flip flops, and sat off to the side as New England teammates went through stretches. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo spoke with Judon when teammates were going through special teams periods and individual drills, before Judon walked off the practice field at Gillette Stadium.
Judon reportedly returned to the field and walked over to Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf and director of player personnel Matt Groh. Judon reportedly had an animated conversation before he exited the field again.
NBC Sports Boston captured Judon’s conversation with Mayo prior to his departure, and it’s seems like Judon’s frustrations regarding his contract have boiled over.
Judon said after Day 1 of training camp that he did not want to be traded, but he did feel he was deserving of more than his current contract is set to pay him.
The Patriots will return to the practice field at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday. We’ll see then if Judon had decided to participate in a padded practice.
