MLB Superstar Makes ‘Confession’ About Red Sox’s Rafael Devers

'It's incredible'

Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers can do things in the batter’s box that few people on the planet can.

In fact, even one of Major League Baseball’s best hitters is in awe of the three-time All-Star from time to time.

Devers was not able to attend this year’s Midsummer Classic due to a lingering shoulder injury, but he still was recognized by his peers amid the festivities in Texas. Devers received kind words from former Boston teammate Chris Sale as well as Cleveland Guardians star José Ramírez, who raved about his fellow Dominican slugger.

“It’s incredible,” Ramírez told reporters through an interpreter Monday, per The Boston Globe. “As a hitter, I have to confess sometimes I don’t know how he gets to some of those pitches.”

Devers’ vast hitting prowess was on full display in the weeks leading up to the break. He crushed a 423-foot, ninth-inning home run in New York on a pitch that traveled over a foot off the center of the plate and broke a seat at Fenway Park with a round-tripper that jumped off his bat at nearly 115 mph.

Pitchers won’t have to worry about Devers doing damage with the bat for a few more days. But come Friday, he will resume wreaking havoc while the Red Sox make a push for a playoff spot.
