New England was wearing shells after two days of no pads

Christian Barmore and Marte Mapu did eventually arrive to practice, showing up about 25 minutes late with their helmets in hand. Godchaux did the same thing Thursday, sitting out the majority of practice following his arrival.

FOXBORO, Mass. — Davon Godchaux was back on the practice field at Gillette Stadium on Friday, but the New England Patriots were not whole on the defensive line.
Christian Barmore, who was dealing with an illness Thursday, was one of a few absences for the Patriots. Patriots versatile safety Marte Mapu also was not present
The Patriots took the field in helmets and shoulder pads after being without pads during their first two training camp sessions.
Other absences included those on the non-football injury list and physically unable to perform list, and thus were not huge surprises.

Patriots cornerback Shaun Wade wore a red no contact jersey, but was on the field. Wide receiver DeMario Douglas, who reportedly is dealing with a hand injury, also was on the field. Mayo confirmed the ailment Douglas is dealing with is not a big concern.
