Red Sox Claim Reliever From Dodgers Before Yankees Series Finale

Yohan Ramirez is headed to Boston

BOSTON — During a series of roster moves on Sunday, the Red Sox added a reliever during an important time for the bullpen.

The Red Sox claimed right-handed pitcher Yohan Ramirez from the Los Angeles Dodgers, per a team release.

Ramirez appeared in 27 games for the Dodgers this season, posting a 5.52 ERA while striking out 8.3 batters per nine innings and tallied a save for Los Angeles. This move comes after Boston designated Chase Anderson for assignment along with catcher Reese McGuire.

The Red Sox get another arm in a time of dire need with Chris Martin and Justin Slaten still out with injuries, placing heavy usage on Kenley Jansen and several middle relievers.

Boston now looks to take the series win for the third time this season against the Yankees on Sunday night. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. on ESPN.
