Red Sox Vs. Mariners: Nick Pivetta Looks To Bounce Back In Series Opener

Boston and Seattle are both fighting for an American League wild card

The Boston Red Sox will try to put a stop to their second-half skid as they welcome the Seattle Mariners to Fenway Park for a three-game series.

Boston, which is 2-7 since the MLB All-Star break, is coming off a series loss to the rival New York Yankees. Seattle, which is fighting with Boston for an American League wild-card spot, is coming off a series sweep of the lowly Chicago White Sox.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora re-inserted Wilyer Abreu into the No. 2 hole with Seattle giving the ball to right-hander Logan Gilbert on Monday. Abreu will play right field with leadoff man Jarren Duran in center and Tyler O’Neill in left field.

Nick Pivetta, who is coming off his worst start of the season against the Colorado Rockies last week, will counter the right-handed Gilbert.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET, and you can watch it all on NESN after an hour of pregame coverage.

Here are the lineups for both teams:
