Red Sox Vs. Yankees Lineups: Wilyer Abreu Starts After Heroics

Abreu scored the game-winning run Friday

The Red Sox will attempt to win their third consecutive series against the New York Yankees on Saturday at Fenway Park, sitting just 3.5 games behind their rival in the American League Wild Card race.

Wilyer Abreu will aid in that effort, getting the start just one day after his heroic contributions off the bench.

Abreu, who will bat second, tied the game with a pinch-hit double in the eighth inning of Friday’s come-from-behind victory, and would eventually score the game-winning run on a base hit from Masataka Yoshida — who remains in the lineup as the DH.

Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers and Tyler O’Neill will hold their spots in the order surrounding Abreu and Yoshida, while Connor Wong and Ceddanne Rafaela each slide down. Dominic Smith and David Hamilton also re-enter the lineup after coming off the bench Friday.

Marcus Stroman will start for New York.

The Red Sox and Yankees are scheduled to take the field at The Fens at 7:15 p.m. ET on FOX. We’ve got the projected lineups here.
