Red Sox’s Jarren Duran Says This All-Star Moment Made Him ‘Tear Up’

The first-time All-Star hopes to make an impression Tuesday night

Jarren Duran’s All-Star nod is a culmination of the 27-year-old’s baseball career so far, and the Boston Red Sox outfielder enjoyed the experience with those closest to him.

Duran soaked in every moment during his trip to Texas where he and Tanner Houck prepare to play in the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday at Globe Life Field; fellow All-Star Rafael Devers will not participate due to a nagging shoulder injury.

The fourth-year outfield has inspired fans with his electric play on offense and defense and his advocacy of mental health. His All-Star experience with his family only added to his inspirational journey.

“Seeing my dad and my mom here, this is one of the stadiums they’ve always wanted to visit,” Duran said in a video shared by the Red Sox. “And it’s like a special moment for them because now they get to come for an All-Star. It’s my first All-Star so seeing them made me tear up a little bit. It was a good one.”

Duran on Tuesday will look to help the American League triumph over the National League and show off to a national audience why he is a deserving All-Star selection.
