Three Takeaways From Red Sox’s 2025 Schedule Release

Boston opens the season on March 27

The Boston Red Sox released their 2025 schedule, with some help from Triston Casas, on Thursday afternoon before returning from the All-Star Break in a competitive 2024 season.

From reconvening in historic postseason foes to a busy month with a division rivals, there’s plenty of reason to be excited for 2025, which could feature another boost of young talent.

That’s not to jump ahead of what will be an energized playoff push for the Red Sox that lies ahead in 2024.

With that, here’s three takeaways from the release of Boston’s 2025 schedule, which begins in Texas against the Rangers on March 27:

WORLD SERIES REMATCH FOR HOME OPENER
The Red Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals on April 4 for the 2025 home opener at Fenway Park.

Throughout a storied history, the Red Sox and Cardinals met four different times in the World Series, splitting the championship quartet. St. Louis won in 1946 and 1967 before Boston earned titles in 2004 and 2013.

The Cardinals took two out of three to earn a series win against the Red Sox in St. Louis back in May this season. Boston did win the series finale on May 19 that began a run in which the ballclub holds the best record in baseball since then.

BUSY JUNE WITH BRONX BOMBERS
It’s taken awhile into the season in recent years for the Red Sox and Yankees to meet and that will continue in 2025.

Boston and New York convene at Yankee Stadium for the first time in 2025 from June 6-8 before shifting to Fenway Park one week later for a weekend set from June 13-15.

The Red Sox hold a 4-2 advantage in the season series over the Yankees so far in 2024 with seven matchups remaining.

HOME COOKING IN MAY
The Red Sox will host their longest homestand of the 2025 season from May 16-25. In that span, Boston will welcome the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles to Fenway Park, all for three-game series.
