Watch Rafael Devers Come Up Clutch To Lift Red Sox To Walk-Off Win

Devers made sure the bottom of the 10th inning didn't last long

Wednesday’s matchup with the Seattle Mariners was the the fourth extra-inning game for the Boston Red Sox since the All-Star break.

And Red Sox star Rafael Devers made sure the outcome didn’t turn out like the other three occasions.

Devers smacked a double to left-center field off Mariners lefty Jhonathan Diaz to begin the bottom of the 10th inning, which plated Tyler O’Neill to lift Boston to a much-needed 3-2 win at Fenway Park. You can watch Devers come up clutch here.

The walk-off hit from Devers capped a 3-for-5 performance from the cleanup spot in the Red Sox lineup.

Devers had the opportunity to give Boston the win after Zack Kelly escaped a high-wire act in the top of the 10th. Kelly threw a wild pitch to the first batter he saw in the frame, which allowed the Mariners to put the go-ahead run just 90 feet away.

After getting two outs, Kelly hit a batter and walked another to load the bases. But the right-hander got Mitch Garver to ground out to end the threat.

That set the stage for Devers, who made sure the game came to an end with the swing of his bat. It was the first series win for the Red Sox since the All-Star break.
