What Jarren Duran Wanted To Stress After All-Star Game MVP Win

Jarren Duran continues to boost his stock.

An incredible breakout in the first half of the season earned Duran a spot in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. And the Red Sox outfielder made the most of his opportunity Tuesday night in Texas, clobbering a game-winning home run that earned him MVP honors for the Midsummer Classic.

Duran after the game was asked if his latest standout performance made him feel like he’s among the best of the best. The 27-year-old, who maintains a hard-nosed approach to the game, provided an on-brand response.

“That’s not how I think about myself. I’m definitely not thinking I’m the best of the best,” Duran told reporters, per a FOX Sports video. “I’m a guy that just keeps my head down and just works hard. I don’t like to think of myself as better than anybody else. I’m just here to work hard. There are so many good players in this league. I’m just thankful I can play against these guys.”

That kind of mindset has turned Duran into a prominent leader in Boston’s clubhouse. The tone the fourth-year pro sets every game has paid dividends for the Red Sox, who have overcome a variety of obstacles and put themselves squarely in the postseason picture.

Duran will try to pick up where he left off Friday when Boston kicks off a six-game road trip at Dodger Stadium.
