Are Patriots Shopping Matthew Judon? NFL Insider Shares New Info

'They are lightly shopping him'

A report issued Monday claimed “multiple teams” contacted the Patriots to inquire about Matthew Judon’s availability.

And according a to report Tuesday from ESPN NFL insider Jeff Darlington, New England didn’t reject those phone calls.

“I can tell you when it comes to Judon, we are at a point where the Patriots are at least listening to trade offers,” Darlington said on “NFL Live,” as transcribed by Bleacher Report. “They are lightly shopping him, making clear to the NFL, ‘Hey, we’re here to listen if you do want to trade for him.’ But I can tell you also they really haven’t gotten much in terms of the type of interest that would really consummate any kind of deal.”

Darlington added that New England hasn’t “upped” or “re-offered” anything to Judon since the offer it presented to the star pass-rusher before the start of training camp in late July. The longtime insider believes it’s “likely” Judon will have to play on the final year of his contract, which has a base salary of $6.5 million this campaign.

Perhaps Judon himself knows his options are limited and he doesn’t have much leverage in this situation. After a run-in with head coach Jerod Mayo and a brief absence from training camp, Judon rejoined the team and has been a full participant in practices.
