Lonnie Walker IV is Boston bound
The Boston Celtics had an efficient summer in restoring nearly the entire roster that won the franchise’s 18th NBA championship in dominant fashion.
With less than two months to go before the season opener and the start of Boston’s title defense, president of basketball operations Brad Stevens and the Celtics made another addition to enhance the roster.
The Celtics agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent guard Lonnie Walker IV, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
That fills the 15th roster spot for Boston entering the season. Meanwhile, Walker joins his fourth team in four seasons after stops with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets. The six-foot-four guard averaged just under 10 points per game in his career thus far while shooting 42.2% from the field and 35.6% from three-point range.
The Celtics prepare to raise Banner 18 and begin another rush for a championship on Oct. 22 against the New York Knicks at TD Garden.
