ESPN’s Top 100 NFL Power Ranking Embarrassing Look For Patriots

The Patriots have one of the NFL’s weakest rosters, which is why oddsmakers forecast very little success in New England this season.

It doesn’t take a football expert to know Jerod Mayo’s team is behind the eight ball in the talent department. But a new power ranking put together by ESPN emphasized how poorly the Patriots stack up with the rest of the league.

The Worldwide Leader on Monday morning released a power ranking that predicted the top 100 players for the upcoming campaign. New England did not have a single player on the list, and only four other NFL teams did not feature at least one representative. The Patriots were initially slated to have one standout in the ranking, but Matthew Judon (No. 86) was traded to the Atlanta Falcons earlier this month.

To make matters worse for New England, it will have to go up against seven (Josh Allen, Ja’Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, Christian McCaffrey, Joe Burrow, Trent Williams, C.J. Stroud) of the top 15 players over the course of the regular season. All told, it could be a very long campaign in Foxboro, Mass.

New England will kick things off Sept. 8 when they visit Burrow, Chase and the Bengals for a Week 1 tilt at Paycor Stadium.
