Here’s Patriots Reported Plan For Drake Maye In Preseason Game Vs. Eagles

Maye is expected to see a lot more reps than the preseason opener

FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo previously said quarterback Drake Maye will see more snaps in New England’s second preseason game than he did in the opener.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer on Thursday evening, some three hours prior to kickoff, added context. Breer said Maye is set to see “a lot more action” against the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium.

“The plan, I’m told, is to have Jacoby Brissett play the first quarter, Maye play the second quarter and into the third, Joe Milton to go in in the third and play into the fourth, and Bailey Zappe to finish,” Breer posted on X.

It will be interesting to see which offensive line Maye plays behind. The rookie quarterback played only six snaps behind New England’s top offensive line in the preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers.

Maye struggled to produce during New England’s joint practice against Philadelphia on Tuesday. It was in largely due to the struggles of the second-string offensive line.
