How Jeremy Swayman Embraced Boston With Tim Wakefield’s Help

Swayman met Wakefield once

Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman truly took a step forward in several areas last season.

He performed at an elite level in the postseason, he consistently empowered his team while speaking with the media and took on an understanding of giving back to the Boston community.

The young goaltender credited that progress to a meeting with a Red Sox legend and a charitable inspiration.

Swayman stopped by the NESN set at Fenway Park on Wednesday during the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon and shared his memory of his one meeting with the late Tim Wakefield. That conversation clearly had an impact on Swayman as he grew up with the city of Boston.

You can catch Swayman’s full thoughts on NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast.
