How Mac Jones Reacted To First Preseason Win With Jaguars

Jones fired a touchdown in the outing

Mac Jones hopes this season with the Jacksonville Jaguars will be a pleasant change of scenery after spending his first three NFL campaigns with the New England Patriots.

So far, so good for the Jacksonville native, who’s receiving plenty of reps in the preseason.. The 2021 first-rounder put together a productive night on Saturday, firing a touchdown down the seam in an in-state victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The former Patriots passer seems to have found his confidence in his process and hopes to continue that before assuming his role behind Jaguars starter and fellow 2021 draft pick Trevor Lawrence.

“Yeah, it was fun,” Jones told reporters, per team-provided video. “I think going out here with a great team, people that I’ve gotten to know over the last few months has been fun. Just got to keep carrying that momentum. It’s a one-week season. Eeryone always says that, and the preseason, too. You got to stack good days and move on to the next game. So, really looking forward to Atlanta next week, too.”

After the Patriots chose a different direction with three new quarterbacks in town, Jones hopes to put himself back on track with the Jaguars and continue to grow with his peers.

“You have a full plethora you can bounce ideas off of,” Jones explained. “And that’s my whole goal, learn as much as I can here from Trevor and C.J. (Beathard), and I feel like they’ve done that. It’s showing a little bit on the field, but I got to be consistent. That’s the biggest challenge for me is to be consistent, lead the young guys and for the young guys to be consistent as well. That’s what I see it as.”
