How Red Sox Top Prospects Reacted To Triple-A Promotion

The Big Three is on the move

The Boston Red Sox enacted a major move for their future on Sunday with the promotion of their star prospects Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

That’s a move that’s been a long time coming with the trio lighting up the Eastern League together throughout 2024 with the Portland Sea Dogs. Now, the “Big Three” sits just one step away from the big-league level.

On the day that broke the news of their promotion, all three Red Sox prospects shared their excitement of their move to Worcester with The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier.

“I’ve been waiting for this news,” Mayer shared on Sunday afternoon. “Obviously, the goal is always to be a big-leaguer and the next step up from Double-A is to get to Triple-A.”

Anthony gets the jump after ending his Double-A tenure in style with a go-ahead home run on Sunday against the Altoona Curve. Now, the young Red Sox prospect make another big-time jump on his youthful baseball journey.

“I’m super competitive and want to get to the big leagues as fast as I can,” Anthony shared.

Teel may have had the best reaction of all, giving a solid glimpse to the connection that the trio of Red Sox talent built in recent months to cement themselves on and off the field.

“I pulled Marcelo aside before we came in [the clubhouse], and I was like, ‘Bro, this is unreal. We’re literally moving together,'” Teel said. “We have a such a great culture and a great friendship.”

The Red Sox prospects will be ready when Worcester returns to Polar Park on Tuesday to start a six-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
