Is Tom Brady ‘Wrong’ For Take On Rookie Quarterbacks?

Did Brady get it wrong or right?

Tom Brady doesn’t like the where the NFL is headed.

Brady, in a live appearance on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” over the weekend, sounded off on where he believes the league is going, and why young quarterbacks are worse off for it.

“I went to New England, and I was developed by coach Belichick and the offensive staff there,” Brady said. “I didn’t start my first year. I think it’s just a tragedy that we’re forcing these rookies to play early, but the reality is, the only reason why they are is because we’ve dumbed the game which has allowed them to play.”

George Balekji and Travis Thomas discussed the 47-year-old’s comments on the latest episode of NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast.

“I love Tom Brady. He’s the G.O.A.T. He’s Captain America, but he’s wrong here,” Thomas said. “To use the word ‘tragedy’ is so dramatic, Tom. Just relax. First of all, quarterback development has evolved since you came up, Tom… There’s never been more specialty-type things. It’s a different time.”

Balekji, who has been steadfast in his belief that Patriots quarterback Drake Maye should sit to begin his career, disagreed.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“New England isn’t ready for the rookie quarterback that it drafted,” Balekji said. “The offensive line isn’t ready. The receiving talent around him isn’t ready. It’s not going to be winning football. I think what Tom Brady is saying is, ‘…When the ducks are in a row, that’s when you start a young quarterback.'”
