Drake Maye found the end zone for the first time as a professional with the New England Patriots on Thursday.

The rookie quarterback put the Patriots on top with a four-yard rushing touchdown in the first half. Maye did everything right on that scoring play. He just forgot one thing and his fellow position mate let him know.

"I told him to keep the ball," Jacoby Brissett told reporters, per team-provided video. "He's so giddy that he forgot to keep the ball. It's his first one. It was good. Good drive ending it with him having the ball in his hands. It's a good sign. We were all excited for him. His first one, sure it won't be his last. He's gotta just work on his celebration a little bit, I guess."

To be fair, Brissett himself admitted he learned from that mistake as a rookie in 2016 when he electrified the Gillette Stadium crowd with a rushing score in a 27-0 primetime win over the Houston Texans.

"Eight years ago, I didn't have a good celebration at all," Brissett added. "I handed the ball to Bill (Belichick). He did better than I did, I guess."

The quarterbacks continue to grow together as the Patriots have just one preseason game remaining on Aug. 25 against the Washington Commanders.
