NFL Reporter Praises Patriots’ Drake Maye As ‘Game-Changing’ QB

Maye outperformed veteran Jacoby Brissett this preseason

Patriots fans already have seen Drake Maye’s potential despite the rookie quarterback being just a few short months into his NFL career.

SNY’s New York Jets reporter Connor Rogers saw it while scouting the North Carolina product ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Rogers joined NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast both to preview New York’s season and offer some insight into Maye.

“I love Drake Maye. I had him as the second-best quarterback in the draft behind on Caleb Williams,” Rogers told NESN’s George Balekji.

“For me, I just look at him and think he can be somebody that can be a game-changing kind of presence at quarterback because he knows how to throw the ball down field, he can make plays with his legs,” Rogers said.

Maye showed that game-changing ability during training camp and Patriots preseason games, including when he impressed against the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Wednesday the team has decided on its starting quarterback, but didn’t yet announce it. However, it feel like Maye will start the season behind the veteran Jacoby Brissett.
