New England could try to upgrade its offensive lineman before roster cutdown day
The Patriots will have tough decisions to make next week, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping them from trying to find a roster upgrade.
Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf didn’t sound the alarm about the offensive line, but his staff remained busy this week. According to Christopher Price of The Boston Globe, New England was among several teams that inquired about offensive lineman Dennis Daley.
Daley started 15 games at left tackle for the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 season, but he spent most of last season with the Cardinals on injured reserve. Arizona released the 28-year-old Monday and he might soon find a new home.
The sixth-year offensive lineman recorded a 68.7 blocking grade in the 2022 season, per Pro Football Focus. It was his most productive season since his rookie campaign with the Carolina Panthers when he recorded a 57.7 PFF blocking grade.
Head coach Jerod Mayo and quarterback Jacoby Brissett also did not express concern about the offensive line, but Mayo stressed throughout training camp that the Patriots always are seeking to add talent to the roster.
