Patriots Attendance: Matthew Judon Present, Key Corner Absent

Marcus Jones was not present Friday

FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots were in pads for Day 8 of training camp Friday, and Matthew Judon was present amid his contract dispute with New England.

The 31-year-old did not participate in practice when Jerod Mayo’s side began padded sessions this week, which seemed to indicate the star pass rusher wasn’t going to risk anything while he seeks a new contract; Judon enters this season on the final year of his current deal.

It remains to be seen as of the beginning of Patriots practice on 11 a.m. ET how much Judon participates, but his presence came after Mayo expressed zero concern about the situation and admitted his relationship with Judon was great.

After participating in practice Thursday, Marcus Jones was absent Friday. DeMario Douglas stretched in a regular white jersey, but when drills began, the wide receiver donned the red non-contact jersey he’d worn throughout training camp. Joshua Bledsoe also was a new absence from training camp.

New additions arrived at New England training camp. Running back Deshaun Fenwick reportedly was released, and a new defensive back arrived wearing Fenwick’s previous No. 35 jersey. It also appears Tyrone Wheatley Jr.’s Patriots tenure ended with replacement Kellen Diesch wearing his No. 72 jersey. Another recent signing Mike Purcell also arrived wearing No. 58.

Marte Mapu and Jaheim Bell remained out along with the physically unable to perform players.
