Jarren Duran is back with Boston
The Boston Red Sox took care of some housekeeping items before their series finale against the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox on Wednesday announced they reinstated Jarren Duran from the suspended list. The All-Star outfielder missed Boston’s last two games as punishment for using a homophobic slur in Sunday’s contest against the Houston Astros. To make room on the active roster for Duran, the Red Sox optioned infielder/outfielder Enmanuel Valdez to Triple-A Worcester following Tuesday night’s win.
Alex Cora and company also made a transaction in the bullpen Wednesday. Cam Booser, who threw 20 pitches without recording an out Tuesday, was placed on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation. The Red Sox replaced Booser with fellow left-handed relief pitcher Brennan Bernardino, who was optioned to Triple-A on Monday.
The Red Sox will try to earn their first series sweep since the first week of July on Wednesday when they meet the Rangers for the final time this regular season. NESN’s complete coverage of the finale begins at 5 p.m. ET, with first pitch to follow one hour later.
