Sparks Coach Goes Berserk, Gets Ejected During WNBA Game At TD Garden

Curt Miller didn't see the end of the historic game

BOSTON — The Connecticut Sun showed their composure down the stretch Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks in front of a sold-out crowd at TD Garden.

Sparks head coach Curt Miller did not do the same as the Sun pulled out a 69-61 history-making win.

Miller blew a gasket with 1:22 left in the contest after Stephanie Talbot got stripped on a drive by Marina Mabry and Alyssa Thomas corralled the loose ball on the baseline. Miller clearly thought a foul should have been called because as Thomas made her way up the court, Miller jumped out in front of the referee and confronted him during the middle of the play.

Miller was quickly ejected for his outburst and had a few more choice words for the officials on his way off the court. You can watch the entire sequence courtesy of NBC Sports Boston:

Miller’s frustrations boiled over in the middle of a 14-2 run by the Sun to close out the game. Connecticut’s defense put the clamps on the Sparks over that span as the Sun forced four turnovers and blocked a shot in five possessions leading up to Miller’s ejection.

Sun guard DiJonai Carrington seemed to enjoy the moment with a smirk on her face as her former coach exited the game. Miller coached the Sun for six seasons from 2016 to 2021 before leaving to take over the Sparks.

It was the first-ever WNBA game at TD Garden and Miller getting tossed ensured the milestone contest had a little bit of everything in it.
