The 49ers on Sunday released a positive update on rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

San Francisco announced in a team statement that Pearsall was released from the hospital as he continues to recover from a bullet wound to his chest.

"He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital," the Niners' statement read.

Pearsall was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt while the 23-year-old was on his way to a fan signing in San Fransico. Police identified a 17-year-old as the suspect who tried to rob Pearsall's Rolex and who also suffered a gunshot wound. Both were in stable condition with Pearsall shown on video walking to the ambulance after the incident. The suspect was charged in juvenile court while the investigation remains ongoing. Police added that the suspect likely did not know Pearsall played for the 49ers.
