Bruins Rumors: Jeremy Swayman Contract Talks Bring ‘Positive Vibes’

Is Swayman's deal close?

The Bruins haven’t been able to get a deal done with goaltender Jeremy Swayman, but that reportedly hasn’t influenced any hard feelings.

Boston still has “positive vibes” that things will work themselves out.

TSN’s Darren Dreger discussed the status of some key restricted free agents who remain unsigned prior to the start of training camps, and everything he said regarding Swayman should have fans on Causeway Street feeling pretty good.

“The Bruins will tell you that it is a priority to get this guy signed,” Dreger said, per TSN. “I think both sides are looking at a long-term commitment, and positive vibes are coming out of Boston, but it’s not done yet.”

Swayman and Boston both agreed not to go through arbitration after some admittedly awkward discussions last year, which signaled the sides aren’t too far off on a new contract. The B’s have expressed hope that a deal could be reached early in the offseason, but it seems as though average annual value has become a sticking point for the 25-year-old.

It doesn’t seem like a matter of if, but when terms are eventually agreed upon. Swayman and the Bruins just need to find a compromise, perhaps before training camp kicks off Wednesday?
