Luka Doncic is a generational superstar that averaged just under 34 points per game last season in another standout campaign for the Dallas Mavericks. He led the Mavericks through a talented Western Conference to reach the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

Boston ultimately neutralized the Mavericks roster to win the series in five games and secure the Celtics’ NBA-record 18th championship.

Doncic got a boost this offseason when Dallas signed top shooter and guard Klay Thompson to a roster that also has Kyrie Irving. Will Doncic rise to the occasion to bring Dallas back to a championship path?

On the latest episode of NESN’s “Hold My Banner” podcast, George Balejki and Ountae Campbell weighed in on just how far Doncic can lead the Mavericks in the upcoming season.

“With the Mavericks, what are you going to get from your superstar?” Balekji said. “How motivated will Luka be this offseason? How motivated was he this offseason? What shape will he show up in? Not just in October, November but he is going to have his legs under him and the durability. He plays hard. He shows up every single night. I love that about him. He wants the ball in his hands. He wants the lights to be bright. But is he going to be in the shape, in the conditioning when teams are throwing their toughest defenders at him?”
