White had a not-so-warm homecoming over the weekend
Derrick White isn’t a regular headline-maker, but the Celtics guard found himself in the news Monday.
TMZ released a video of a heated altercation involving White during last Saturday’s game between Colorado and Colorado State at Canvas Stadium. The Colorado native, who played his final collegiate season for the Buffaloes, had his hat knocked off by another fan’s backhand and needed to be held back while tensions built.
The video unsurprisingly drew a slew of reactions from Boston fans, who passionately defended the 2024 NBA champion.
White’s scrap was the latest dose of offseason drama for the Celtics, who received significant attention for Jaylen Brown’s and Jayson Tatum’s respective situations during the 2024 Paris Olympics. But soon enough, the focus on Boston will be on its attempt to defend its NBA title.
