Did Chiefs Really Include Incompletion In Patrick Mahomes Highlight Reel?

This pass has no business making the cut

Patrick Mahomes turned 29 years old on Tuesday, already with three Super Bowl championships in his young career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs took to X to feature a video highlight reel of Mahomes’ 29 best plays in his NFL career. Expected clips from Super Bowl victories made the cut, but the first highlight of the reel stood out in absurd fashion.

No. 29 on the list featured an off-balance throw from Mahomes in Super Bowl LV that fell incomplete for Darrel Williams, which also turned the ball over (!!!) on downs in an eventual 31-9 win for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sure, it was a cool throw off-platform that caught the eyes of viewers in an otherwise boring Super Bowl. But that’s a play that makes the top 29 for a player that’s won multiple championships and MVP awards.

There’s real reason to honor Mahomes for the player he is and how he’s changed the game. This should not be one of them, to honor a turnover on downs.
