Have Commanders Finally Found Right Place Kicker After Record Day?

Austin Seibert had seven field goals on Sunday

For the second consecutive week in the NFL, a kicker stole the show in a dominant effort with plenty of production.

Chris Boswell did that for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 with six field goals and filling in as the punter as well. Week 2 saw the rise of Austin Seibert with the Washington Commanders. He one-upped Boswell with seven field goals, a franchise record, and kicked the game winner as Washington defeated the New York Giants as time expired.

Seibert entered the league as a fifth-round selection for the Cleveland Browns in 2019. Washington marks Seibert’s fifth team as he began his sixth season, which started a week later, given he was not on a roster to begin the 2024 campaign.

The Commanders move to 1-1 on the season. There’s been plenty of production across the league in the kicking game through two weeks. Is a kicker in line for eight field goals in Week 3?

The 27-year-old journeyman joined the Commanders when Washington signed him on Monday after releasing Cade York, who missed two field goals and booted a kickoff out of bounds in the club’s season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
