The New England Patriots found momentum with a few chunk plays against the Seattle Seahawks, but could not cash in on one particular moment in Sunday's 23-20 loss.
New England's offense benefited from a productive effort from Antonio Gibson, who tallied 96 yards on the ground. He stood out with a 45-yard run in the fourth-quarter. From there, the Patriots stalled on offense, quarterback Jacoby Brissett lost nine yards on a third-down sack and Seattle blocked Joey Slye's 48-yard field goal attempt. The Seahawks would go on to tie the game and earn the victory in overtime.
The Patriots had a chance to capitalize on momentum and add on to a fourth-quarter lead. Instead, the offense could not stay on schedule in a sequence that eventually helped decide the game.
"It's tough, man," Brissett told reporters, per team-provided video. "You get that big play and get all the momentum. Now, you're going the opposite way. In those critical situations, we gotta find a way. I think that was the moment in the game where we gotta put them away. They gave us the light and we didn't take it this time. We just gotta find a better way to capitalize on those, especially when we get down there this late in the game against a really good team. They don't give you many opportunities. Gotta take advantage of those."
