Jaguars Coach Noncommittal Of Trevor Lawrence After Mac Jones’ Debut

Lawrence was benched for Jones late in Monday's blowout loss

Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson acknowledged there needs to be changes made after Jacksonville suffered a blowout loss in primetime to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

“Everything is on the table,” Pederson told reporters after the 47-10 defeat at Bills Stadium, per a team-provided video.

When asked if “everything” includes the quarterback position, Pederson did not shoot it down. He was non-committal of Trevor Lawrence, who was replaced by Mac Jones with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

“I mean, you say everything’s on – we got to take a look at injury,” Pederson responded when asked about the quarterback position. “Tonight we had some guys injured. It could be moved that way. It could be performance. It’s all things we need to evaluate moving forward.”

Lawrence was benched after he went 21-for-38 for 178 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He took four sacks and compiled an abysmal quarterback rating of 19.8, per ESPN.

“I know I’m not playing as good as I can play,” Lawrence told reporters, per a team-provided video. “Point blank. There’s plays out there.”

Jones fumbled on his first dropback of the game. He did, however, lead a 10-play, 60-yard drive on Jacksonville’s next possession. The former New England Patriots quarterback concluded 5-for-8 for 22 yards and took one sack.

The 0-3 Jaguars travel to the Houston Texans for a Week 4 contest Sunday.
