Will Jerod Mayo consider making a change under center?
The Patriots lost their third straight game, and it was another anemic showing for Jacoby Brissett. The veteran signal-caller completed 19 of 32 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown, but the starting QB threw a pick-six in the first quarter and fumbled three times in the loss.
Jerod Mayo was asked once again about the quarterbacks after the loss, and once again, the Patriots head coach sounded like a broken record. His answer sounded pretty much the same as it had over the past three weeks.
“At this point, Jacoby is our starting quarterback,” Mayo said. “I haven’t watched the film or anything like that. He’s been a great leader. He just broke down the huddle after I talked to the guys. We have to watch the film. We have a long flight to go back and watch the film, and we’re always evaluating every single position.”
Even though Brissett is not having the best of seasons, playing Drake Maye at this point in the season may not just destroy the rookie’s confidence; it could get him seriously hurt, given how bad the offensive line has played all season. Patriots quarterbacks have been sacked 17 times for a loss of 109 total yards.
