It's the end of an era in Boston sports broadcasting
Longtime Boston Red Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione called his final Red Sox game Sunday, making him our VA Hero of the Week!
Castiglione has called Red Sox games for the past 42 years on radio, covering all four of the team’s World Series wins. He is known by Boston sports fans for his iconic calls throughout Sox history.
The Red Sox held a 20-minute pregame ceremony to honor the Boston baseball legend. He threw out the first pitch before he was gifted a certificate from Boston mayor Michelle Wu, who declared Sept. 29 as “Joe Castiglione Day.”
