VA Hero of the Week: Joe Castiglione Calls Final Game As Red Sox Broadcaster

Its the end of an era in Boston sports boradcasting

Longtime Red Sox radio broadcaster Joe Castiglione called his final Red Sox game in the Sox 3-1 win over the Rays, making him our VA Hero of the Week!

Castiglione has called Red Sox games for the past 42 years on radio, covering all four of the team’s World Series wins, and is known by Boston sports fans for his iconic calls throughout Sox history.

The Red Sox held a 20-minute ceremony during pregame to honor the Boston baseball legend where he threw out the first pitch before gifted a certificate from Boston mayor Michelle Wu which declared September 29th as Joe Castiglione day.
