RFK Racing's Chris Buescher missed out on the playoffs by six points
The NASCAR Cup Series playoff field was set after a thrilling night at Darlington Raceway on Sunday.
Tyler Reddick gutted out a stomach bug to win the regular-season championship with his 10th-place finish. Taking inspiration from 23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan, Reddick admitted to his crew during the Cook Out Southern 500 that he was “throwing up, (expletive) himself.”
Chase Briscoe emerged as the winner at Darlington Raceway edging out Kyle Busch for the 14th playoff spot. Both drivers needed a win to clinch a playoff spot, and Briscoe fended off Busch in the final 17 laps to ruin the Richard Childress Racing driver’s hopes after a winless regular season.
Martin Truex Jr. and Ty Gibbs were the only winless drivers to make the 16-man field with RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher six points out of the playoffs with his 6th-place finish. Bubba Wallace missed the cut by 27 points.
