Netflix Sets Release Date For 2004 Red Sox Docuseries

Mark the calendar for Oct. 23

The 2024 baseball season is all about storytelling for the Boston Red Sox.

From commemorating the 20th anniversary of the 2004 championship team to a Netflix crew following the current team, cameras and content are surrounding the Red Sox franchise in 2024.

Those paths will cross in October as Netflix releases an additional set of programming centering around the 2004 championship team. The streaming service announced on Wednesday that “The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox” will premiere on Oct. 23.

“The documentary series looks back at one of the greatest comebacks in sports history — when the Boston Red Sox broke the infamous ‘Curse of the Bambino’ and defeated their archrivals, the New York Yankees — going on to win their first World Series title in 86 years,” Netflix shared on X on Monday.

NESN.com will also feature an in-depth look at the historic postseason run coming in October. You can catch up with reflections on momentum-shifting 2004 games and that consequential trade deadline that shaped the title for the Red Sox.

As for the current team, Boston trails the Minnesota Twins by four games for the final American League playoff spot. The ballclub can still make a dent when the Twins visit Fenway Park for a three-game set from Sept. 20-22.
