Patriots’ Jerod Mayo Has Icy Response To Bill Belichick’s Instagram

Mayo didn't have time to talk 'InstaFace'

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo hasn’t exactly been known for his brevity since being elevated to his new role.

It’s actually been quite the opposite.

Mayo has stepped in it, for lack of a better term, on a number of occasions since January. The Patriots didn’t exactly burn any cash this offseason, despite the fact he said they would. Caedan Wallace was never given much of a chance to compete for the starting spot at left tackle, even though Mayo said he would. Jacoby Brissett is going to start against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, even if Mayo said he was outperformed by rookie Drake Maye.

He was less forthcoming Friday, though.

Mayo flipped the script in his final press conference before New England’s season opener in Cincinnati, giving one of his shortest responses yet when asked about his predecessor, Bill Belichick, joining Instagram.

“I’ve heard some of the guys talk about it, but I’m not going to talk about it,” Mayo said, per team-provided video.

Icy.

Belichick’s arrival to social media has caused quite the stir with current and former players all giving their take on the matter. Mayo even had a member of his staff toss a couple of joes out there, though it was to be expected considering it was the 73-year-old’s son, Brian.

The Patriots’ new coach didn’t want to touch it, though. He’s on to Cincinnati.
