Patriots Practice Squadder In Line To Start Season Opener

Michael Jordan?

The Patriots seemed to make an intriguing personnel decision Sunday.

Michael Jordan worked with the top offensive line during warmups prior to New England’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, signaling that he could get the start at Paycor Stadium.

The Patriots had a decision to make, with Jordan and Nick Leverett serving as the primary options to fill in along the offensive line for Sidy Sow, who was inactive with an ankle injury. Jordan, a practice squad elevation, seems to have gotten the call.

New England looks like it will roll with Chukwuma Okorafor-Jordan-David Andrews-Layden Robinson-Mike Onwenu as the starting line combination in Cincinnati. Vederian Lowe, who was once viewed as the starting left tackle, will be active but isn’t expected to play after missing considerable practice time over the last few weeks. Leverett is the only backup center option currently slated to be active, so the Patriots likely didn’t want to risk having both options at center playing at the same time.

Is Jordan up for the task? It remains to be seen.
